It was a warm early summer lunchtime. Standing in the sun outside the café, enjoying the dappled light filtering through the London Plane tree, I considered my lunch options. The choices were all enticing, but finally I understood what I really wanted.
Ten minutes later I got back to the Studio with my take-away, eager to get my chops around the salivating delicacy (grilled halloumi in a warm baguette drizzled with harissa, in case you’re interested). Alas that had to wait. Two of my colleagues were standing there, grinning from ear to ear, excitedly shifting their weight from foot to foot.
It seemed wise to ask the important news lest they should both burst. Without the need for me to even enquire a hurried tumble of words rushed to explain that a senior bod from Fired Earth had been in, loved the showroom, and asked if we would partner with them and become a Fired Earth dealer!
The blood drained from my face, sweat beaded on my pallid brow, my heart skipped a beat. With great fortitude I steadied myself, managed to avoid dropping my baguette, and dropped in to a chair. Feeling faint, I dramatically raised the back of my hand to my forehead, gazed skyward and attempted to collect my thoughts.
Full recovery was quick, there being generally few thoughts in there anyway, and the decision was of course one of the easiest ever. Fired Earth have been a byword in beautiful tiles and bathrooms for over 40 years, and we pride ourselves on designing and supplying beautiful tiles and bathrooms, so what’s not to like?
Now, a mere 6 weeks later to say we’re proud is to do a disservice. We have a gleaming new display area showing off a selection of the most impossibly beautiful tiles. All curated by Fired Earth, the display includes work by luminary designers Nina Campbell, Tricia Guild, and Kelly Hoppen, and has zellige and encaustic tiles by Bert & May. There’s porcelain, ceramic, natural stone, mosaics, terracotta, and 120 (soon to be 132) paint colours, and our designers are on hand to help explore your needs and refine the options.
There’s a lot here, and just like my lunch a few weeks ago all the choices are enticing, but pop in, have a look, and you’ll know what you really want.
